Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm so excited to start my very first year teaching! I had the opportunity to meet some of my students yesterday for Popsicles on the Playground before school starts next week and they're all absolutely wonderful. I want to give them the best experience possible and make sure that every student feels seen, welcome, safe, and happy to be at school. My goal is to create a sense of community in my classroom where we look out for each other and it's okay to make mistakes because we're a community that supports one another.

On my list I’ve included circle time rugs, floor pillows and cushions for comfortable independent reading time, as well as chairs for small group work.

Since it is my first year, I don't have anything yet to make our space more welcoming and comfortable. I would love for my students to walk in on their first day school and be excited to spend their days here.

Our school is Dual Language so our kids are getting half of their day in English, and half in Spanish. I'm so excited to celebrate the individuality of each of my students and help them learn about each other's diverse cultural backgrounds. It has always been my dream to become a teacher and I'm absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity.
