My students need a kitchen cart to store the kitchen items we already have in our classroom, a cookbook and a hot plate.

My Students
My class is in a public Montessori school serving children in K3 through 8th grade. In our 1st through 3rd grade classroom, we focus on academic and practical life skills that children need to be successful. The children in my class are creative, thoughtful, and curious, always interested in learning something new!
Cooking and eating meals together creates a sense of community for our classroom.
While cooking, the children employ reading and math skills, learning about history and culture, and practice sharing and teamwork.
My Project
Cooking in the Montessori classroom allows children a creative and fun way to explore a variety of subjects. Students explore botany and zoology, health and nutrition, fractions, ratios, and measurement, reading and writing, history and culture
When the children cook, they research foods, shop for ingredients, read directions, and share their results.
We have some basic cooking and cleaning items in our classroom so the supplies on our shopping list are meant to complete our classroom kitchen. Our classroom is fairly small, so we will keep supplies for cooking on the rolling cart, allowing it to be moved easily around the classroom. We already have an oven, but my students love making soup and sautéed vegetables, so the double burner will allow them to make these healthy items.
Cooking allows children to learn practical life skills that will support their health now and in the future. They learn to budget, how to prepare food, and what is needed to bring together a healthy meal. Eating together gathers everyone as a community.
