Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Flexible seating is a powerful approach that can greatly benefit our multilingual learners by promoting engagement, collaboration, and personalized learning.
For multilingual students, comfort and choice are key to fostering a positive and productive classroom experience.
Flexible seating allows students to select where and how they sit, which helps them feel more in control of their learning space. This autonomy encourages active participation and reduces stress, both of which are essential for language acquisition and academic success.
The variety of seating options—such as standing desks, floor cushions, or collaborative tables—supports different learning styles and needs. Some students may focus better in a quiet corner, while others thrive in group settings. By providing diverse seating arrangements, we help them stay engaged and work more effectively.
Furthermore, flexible seating encourages peer interaction and communication, which is vital for language development. By working with different classmates in various settings, multilingual students can practice English in natural, authentic ways. This collaborative learning environment helps them build confidence and fosters a sense of community.
