This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A couch and pillows in the school social worker's office will create a welcoming, comfortable space for students to feel safe and supported. Many of my students face challenges at home or in their personal lives that impact their emotional well-being. Providing a cozy and inviting environment will help students feel at ease, making it easier for them to open up about their struggles. This, in turn, will allow me to better support their mental health and help them manage stress, anxiety, or personal issues, ultimately improving their focus and engagement in the classroom.
The goal of this project is to create a space where students can take a break, talk through their feelings, and build trust with the social worker.
This will lead to better emotional regulation and an improved ability to cope with life’s challenges, ultimately supporting their academic success. My students are resilient and unique, often overcoming significant obstacles, and creating a comforting space for them to receive care is a critical step toward their well-being and learning.
