My Project

My goal for my students is to enhance their communication skills using the icons created by the visuals and tools purchased for our classroom. By providing them with access to a wide range of visual aids, including picture schedules, communication cards, and symbol-based materials, I aim to empower each student to express their needs, preferences, and ideas effectively. Through consistent exposure and practice with these icons, I envision my students developing confidence in their ability to communicate, whether it be requesting assistance, expressing emotions, or participating in classroom activities. Ultimately, my goal is to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and heard, regardless of their communication abilities.

In my classroom, essential tools like a printer, laminator, and storage are crucial for providing visuals that support communication for my students.

A printer enables me to create a variety of visual aids, including picture schedules, communication cards, and educational materials tailored to each student's needs. With a laminator, I can protect visuals from wear and tear, ensuring their durability for long-term use. Additionally, storage solutions such as bins, or cabinets allow me to organize and access these visuals efficiently, making it easier to integrate them into daily lessons and activities. By having access to these tools, I can effectively enhance communication and learning opportunities for all students in my classroom, fostering inclusivity and engagement.

In the past, I've relied on my personal color printer and laminating supplies to create visual aids for my classroom. However, in an FSC classroom, the financial burden of purchasing these items out of pocket can be significant. Funding doesn't always arrive in time to acquire these essential tools before the school year begins. This challenge underscores the importance of securing timely resources to support effective teaching and learning in our classroom.
