Creating Classroom Stations for Student-Centered Activities in High School
Help me give my students two tables and a Luxor Mobile Dry Erase double-sided Whiteboard to create student-centered classroom stations and encourage discussion.
Learning has come a long way in the twenty years that I've been teaching! Instead of the "sage on stage" talking and the students listening, learning has become more hands-on and active, with lots of movement in the classroom. Has the furniture in the classroom setting changed? Unfortunately, no. My classroom has stayed the same with few changes. I'd like to reimagine an updated classroom and dream of some changes with your donations.
For movement and station sections in the classroom, I'd like to place Tables around the room at standing height so we can encourage conversations at the stations and a Mobile Whiteboard ready to move with the conversation or even out in the hallway for mini-presentations.
When you have 35 desks in a relatively small room, it's hard to move the desks and "group" them into stations, but if I had permanent tables around the perimeter of the classroom that served as stations with a sign and instructions on what to do at each station, it would flow so much better and encourage student-centered activities. This would be such an update for my classroom that I dare to dream it!
