Creating Calm and Order in Our Classroom

My Project

Classrooms thrive on structure, consistency, and organization—especially in a busy middle school environment. This project will help create a calm, functional space where students feel supported and ready to learn. With clearly labeled supplies, designated areas for daily routines, and visual tools to guide transitions and expectations, these materials will help minimize chaos and maximize learning.

Creating a positive, organized classroom doesn’t happen by accident—it’s designed with intention.

Items like the dry-erase magnetic notebook paper poster will help outline day-to-day tasks for students in an easy to see format. The composition notebook-themed tablecloth will be used to designate the student supply station where students will be able to pick up pencils, markers, and other daily use items. I have implemented a tray system for passing out and collecting papers, but with so many classes, we simply don't have enough. By adding additional trays in different colors, it will help students stay more organized when pick up or turning in assignments. In a similar fashion, our old visual timer fell and cracked this year. Losing this timer has reiterated the importance of students being visual learners. These types visual supports and organizational tools will reduce stress and disruptions, allowing students to focus their energy on growth, curiosity, and community.
