This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The library is more than just a place for books. It's a place to explore and learn in different ways. Students love building collaboratively, which allows them to practice the appropriate social language in a low-pressure situation. I have seen students ask for materials respectfully, offer their own materials to other students, and creatively problem-solve in very natural ways because they are highly motivated to do so. They are also drawn to strategic games, which also foster positive social interactions.

Creative and strategic play helps students build intrinsic motivation for social-emotional skills.

I want the library to be a place where students are surrounded by rich literature and opportunities to build, create, think, and engage with others in positive ways.
