My students need after school activities and the chance to learn new skills. These materials will give them the chance to learn how to knit, crochet, and embroider, provide a creative outlet.

My Students
I teach in a Native Alaskan Subsistence village in rural Alaska. My students are sweet and hardworking. They love to fish, hunt, and pick berries. My students enjoy year round outdoor activities - swimming, fishing, snowmobiling, driving on the ice road.
The students in our small school are hard working and persistent.
Not only do they complete coursework in our small village, but their flexibility and adaptability keeps them learning in a variety of environments. The students are open, welcoming, caring, and generous of spirit. They love sports, music, video games - typical teenagers with big hearts and a wonderful sense of humor.
My Project
Students in our small school in Western Alaska are creative and engaging kids. They work hard and need an outlet to play and be creative too. The students have asked for a craft club (they do not have art classes) so they can learn how to knit, crochet, and embroider. This club gives the students a chance to create beauty like what they see in their amazing natural environment. The supplies will help them with hand eye coordination, counting, mathematics, and so much more. They will have the opportunity to create things for themselves and their community, and maybe even find something they love to do.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
