This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am the lucky art teacher of over 2,000 creative students. They are so grateful for the arts. They enjoy my art classes, they enjoy exploring new art mediums. Oil pastels help my students learn about primary and secondary colors, value and blending.

Unfortunately, getting basic materials for them like oil pastels is very challenging.

In most schools, the arts don't get enough funding, so children have to share limited materials. Some of my 200 to 500 students share 20 sets of oil pastels! Having more sets of oil pastels to share within a school would give more students the opportunity to create art projects. They will use them to learn about value and blending. They will learn about and create secondary colors using primary colors. They will see the pastels to explore, create, and apply many other skills.
