Creating an Organized, Sensory-Friendly Classroom for Young Learners with Autism

Help me give my students sensory tools, educational materials, and organizational supplies for learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The materials requested will create a structured, clean, and engaging classroom that caters to the unique needs of students with autism. Items like dry erase markers and magnetic picture pockets will support interactive learning, allowing students to engage visually and actively in lessons. Sensory toys will provide calming and focusing tools for students who may become overwhelmed, while glue sticks and a plastic arts tray will foster creativity and help develop fine motor skills. Cleaning supplies, including Clorox wipes, Lysol spray, and a mop, will maintain a hygienic environment, reducing discomfort or distractions from an unclean space. Organizational tools, such as pencil boxes and magnetic storage boxes, will help create a tidy, predictable classroom that reduces anxiety for students.

The goal of this project is to establish a welcoming, organized learning space where students with autism can feel comfortable and supported.

With sensory tools and educational materials, I aim to create an environment that enhances student focus, creativity, and social interaction. This setup will help develop essential social, emotional, and academic skills while minimizing stressors. Additionally, the materials will support differentiated learning, allowing each child to engage in a way that suits their individual needs.

My students are exceptional in how they perceive the world. They each have their own strengths, challenges, and learning styles. Despite their challenges, these children show resilience and creativity. A flexible and inclusive classroom will provide the necessary support for each student to reach their full potential.
