Creating an Atmosphere for Learning!

My Project

I have wanted to change the lighting in my classroom for years. The fluorescent lights are hard on my students' eyes, and often times they ask me to dim or turn off the lights. Café lights would make my classroom feel more homey. Also, with our tile flooring, it is difficult for them to find a comfy spot when they are free-reading. Adding easy-to-clean pillows to my classroom would give my students the freedom to find a comfortable spot to sit anywhere in our room. Adding pillows and café lights will make our classroom feel cozy and welcoming.

The environment in a classroom can make a world of difference to students, especially when they may come from unwelcoming, traumatic situations.

I am also asking for peel-and-stick dry-erase paper. I want to use it to convert our small group table into a dry-erase table. I use that space to work with students on reading, writing, and vocabulary. Allowing students to draw on the table would make learning more engaging and fun!

This year I have worked hard to make the classroom more inviting and friendly for learning. The addition of café lights, pillows, and an interactive whiteboard table would make students feel at home and allow them to relax and enjoy learning.
