Creating Accessible Reading for Special Education Students

Help me give my students the gift of accessible reading through books and the ink to create the visual supports for each book.

My Project

For students with disabilities, reading is typically an extremely difficult task. Many students with disabilities require supports to access this academic task that is imperative to learn for their lives. New books are important in this process to support their abilities to practice their reading skills with new books that they don't have memorized for both decoding the words and showing comprehension of the story. Books also support learning social and emotional regulation skills. Creating the supports requires color ink for better visualization for my students.

Books and visual supports are crucial for students with disabilities as they enhance comprehension and engagement.

Visual aids help to break down complex information, making learning more accessible and manageable. They also cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring that every student can connect with the material in a way that suits them best. Additionally, books provide a wealth of knowledge and perspectives that foster empathy and understanding among all students. Ultimately, these resources empower students with disabilities to thrive academically and socially, promoting inclusivity in the classroom.
