My Project
As a first-year reading interventionist, I am stepping into a role that is as rewarding as it is challenging. I will be working with students who are 2–4 years behind in reading—students who often struggle with confidence, engagement, and focus. My mission is to provide them with a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment that not only supports their academic growth but also helps rebuild their love for learning. The items in my cart—pillows, rugs, a greenery wall, a bean bag, bulletin board borders, and hanging lights—are not just decorations. They are tools that will help transform a standard classroom into a warm, inviting space where my students feel valued, comfortable, and motivated to try their best.
A cozy rug and soft pillows or bean bags will create a reading corner that feels less like school and more like home—a peaceful place where students can relax, focus, and enjoy books without fear of failure or judgment.
The book display stands, greenery wall and gentle hanging lights will add calming visual elements that reduce stress and help create a positive atmosphere. The bulletin board borders will allow me to celebrate their progress and showcase their hard work in a space that feels special and personalized.
These seemingly small details make a huge difference for students who may have spent years struggling or feeling left behind. A welcoming environment tells them: You belong here. You are capable.
