Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students that I serve have learning and emotional disabilities that can make talking about their struggles a little more challenging and I've noticed that with a safe, fun and engaging office/area they are more open to participate and leave the office feeling uplifted and inspired. Many of the students that I serve are underprivileged and they often feel fatigued and disengaged due to food insecurity and having a refrigerator will allow me the opportunity to provide students with healthy snacks and food to eat. Providing cold water and perishable items can make a big difference in our sessions and how they perform throughout the day. I constantly look for ways to motivate and inspire students which I believe the motivational posts that I will hang up on the walls of the office, will help students shift their mindset as they walk through the door.
Having an engaging, hospitable, warm and safe environment will help students gain resources that they need to thrive, build resiliency, and improve their mental health.
My goal for this project is to create a safe space for the students that I serve, as well as other students that are in need, and provide an engaging environment for them to reach their fullest potential. Please help me serve my students in this way, by supporting the improvement of their counseling space!
