Creating a Safe and Fun Learning Environment!

Help me give my students the supplies they need to stay safe and healthy, while still having fun, as they return to school during the pandemic.

My Students

I teach first grade at a Title 1 elementary school in Hawaii where our students come from diverse backgrounds and demographics.

More than half of my students come from low income families, and after a most challenging year of distance and hybrid learning last year, I am determined to give them a SAFE and FUN learning environment when they come back to school this year.

My Project

This year will be the first time in over a year and four months that our students will be returning to full time face-to-face instruction, however, in-person learning will be very different because covid is still a real threat.

My top priority is making sure the classroom environment is as SAFE as possible so that students can reengage and focus on the FUN of learning again, instead of worrying about covid.

Since none of them are eligible for vaccination, air filtration is absolutely critical to keeping everyone safe. Students are also no longer allowed to share supplies, so I want to provide my students with individual packs of Lego bricks & sets. This is one indoor resource that will keep my students socially distanced while still having fun.

These kids have been away from school for so long. I am excited to get back in the classroom and give them the safe and fun learning environment that they deserve!
