My Project

My name is Jovonna and I am a first-year teacher dedicated to creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment for my students.

**The Need for a Trauma-Informed Classroom**

Many of my students come from diverse backgrounds and may have experienced various forms of trauma. It is essential to create a classroom environment that acknowledges these challenges and promotes healing and growth. A trauma-informed approach recognizes the impact of trauma on learning and behavior, and it emphasizes safety, trust, and empowerment.

**The Vision: Flexible Seating for Enhanced Learning**

To support my students effectively, I envision a classroom equipped with flexible seating options. This approach allows students to choose their seating arrangements based on their individual needs, preferences, and comfort levels. By providing various seating options—such as bean bags, floor cushions, standing desks, and traditional chairs—we can create an adaptable learning environment that encourages collaboration, engagement, and self-regulation.

**Goals of the Project**

1. **Create a Safe Space:** Establish a classroom atmosphere where students feel secure, respected, and valued.

2. **Promote Engagement:** Use flexible seating to enhance student participation and motivation, allowing them to learn in a way that suits their individual styles.

3. **Encourage Collaboration:** Foster a sense of community and teamwork through shared spaces and seating arrangements that promote interaction.

4. **Support Emotional Well-Being:** Design a therapeutic environment that helps students manage stress and anxiety, enabling them to focus on their learning.

To achieve this vision, I am seeking funding to purchase a variety of flexible seating options and classroom resources. Thank you for your support!
