Creating a More Comfortable Library

Help me give my students a new rug to read and learn on for our classroom library.

My Project

"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free." - Frederick Douglass. Many of my students come into my room every year with many barriers that block them from the love of reading. It is my goal to change that for them.

I teach in a fifth grade regular education, special education, and English language learner inclusion classroom.

My students this year range in ability over several grade levels in the area of math, reading, and writing. By the time they get to fifth grade, some of them begin to realize that they are behind their classmates. It is my passion to change that and help all of them be successful.

I am requesting a comfortable rug for our classroom library to replace our 8-year old rug there. Here, students can curl up with a good book and really enjoy reading for an extended period of time without getting uncomfortable. I also plan on using this library rug for small group meetings, group projects, and centers where students work together in groups to solve tasks and situations.

Please help my class in creating a better reading and learning environment.
