My Students

I teach PreK-12th grades in a remote rural area of the Oklahoma Panhandle. Every day, I am fortunate to make music with a diverse group of students that come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnic cultures. Our school is one of the few in our area that still offer a full music program to our students. All of our students love to make music, but because of our location, we don't have access to the best equipment. It's with my students request and encouragement that I have set up this account in hopes to get them access to new challenges and allow our younger students to learn music in a new way.

My Project

Students, regardless of age, express the need for rhythm in everyday life. With these handheld instruments, our school will be using these "rhythm kits" with our younger students and will aid in their beginning understanding of a steady beat, along with introducing the Kodály method and interrogating it into our everyday classroom. These kits will include items that create different types of tones and sounds to allow the children to experiment in paying and singing and dancing in their learning environment. Our students will also use these instruments to understand music of different countries and cultures.

Developing a starting point for our students is key, and creates continuous success in the classroom.

Using these kits will insure a proper learning environment and underlining understanding for their developing musical abilities. Who doesn't enjoy playing while you're learning?
