Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from diverse backgrounds of experiences and families.
Each and every one brings something special to the classroom.
Many of my students are bilingual, or are learning English for the very first time. I am so proud of the students who have worked to translate with them or created a welcome environment for all backgrounds.
This year, I am transitioning from a middle school classroom to early elementary. This means I virtually am starting over with materials and resources and looking for the back to school time to go as smoothly as possible. In this list, I am including culturally responsive books for my new library and materials for my very new classroom.
My Project
This will now be my third year in the classroom, but for the first time I am transitioning away from middle school and into lower elementary. I have also been given the opportunity to inherit a completely new classroom. Classroom environments set the tone for learning and create a welcoming home. This is how I would like to invite students into the classroom. These are just simple classroom supplies to reinforce community with classroom jobs, create learning with place value and number charts, and books in both Spanish and English to respond to the needs and strengths of my wonderful students.
