This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The materials in our "Creating A Garden in Pre-Kindergarten" project will provide hands on, sensory and science materials for a long term activity in our classroom.
Gardens and children need the same things - patience, love and someone who will never give up on them.
Our Pre-K students will directly observe the stages of plant growth from a tiny seed to a mature plant, learning about germination, sprouting and flowering. The seeds, soil and germination boxes will be placed in our Discovery Center. Students will have to tend to their "gardens", by watering and placing their seed boxes in the sun each day.
The vegetable root viewer will be placed in our Dramatic Play Center. Students will tend to this garden and make sure the vegetable seeds receive sun and water each day. Students will grow their own food (beans) in their play kitchen. Once students harvest our crop of beans, students will be able to taste their own classroom grown food.
