Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every student, grades K-5, comes to the PS 145 Library. At the library, students browse books, read together, write stories, and learn research skills.

This is my first year as the librarian, and I have realized that we are missing some small things that can make a big difference in our students' ability to move around the space and enjoy the books!

This DonorsChoose project contains items that will make checkouts as well as independent work more seamless in the space. The wireless scanner and standing desk will allow me to move through the library and the school to check out books, while engaging in conversations with students, and clipboards will allow students to choose their ideal spot in the library to complete their writing activities. The folding tables will allow us to create more space when smaller classes visit, while accommodating larger groups and events in the library when needed. Other items in this order list will help motivate student choice in the library - for example, the display bins and stands will showcase new books and hi-interest materials!
