Creating a Flexible and Calming Learning Space

Help me give my students flexible seating options and calming classroom decor to improve focus and increase engagement!

My Project

My students are bright, curious, and eager to learn. As a second-grade inclusion teacher, I work with children of various diverse backgrounds and abilities. Many of my students benefit from movement while learning, as well as environments that provide sensory support. They thrive when given the opportunity to collaborate, problem-solve, and engage actively in their learning. Providing flexible seating and calming decor will help create a space that nurtures their growth and success.

This project will bring in flexible seating options such as seat cushions and floor seats that allow students different positions while they work, improving focus and engagement.

Additionally, I am requesting classroom decor that creates a calm and welcoming environment, including lighting, wall elements that reduce visual distractions, and lamps to add a cozy feel.

Flexible seating promotes active learning by giving students choices about where and how they work best. Whether they are working in small groups, with a partner, or independently, these options will support collaboration and comfort. A calming classroom environment, with soft lighting and neutral tones, will help students feel safe and ready to learn, reducing anxiety and increasing their ability to stay engaged throughout the day.

By funding this project, you will help create a classroom where students can move, collaborate, and feel at ease. Your support will make a significant impact on their ability to focus, work together, and develop a love for learning in a space that is tailored to their needs.
