Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my current students are struggling readers due to the pandemic. My current classroom library consists of books I have had for years. My students have asked to see more books with characters that look, feel, and act like them. They want more books they can relate to.

My goal is to use these new materials in the classroom to create a more inclusive environment.

The pandemic has also affected the students socially and emotionally. Many of the books I have selected are for my students' social and emotional learning as well and will be kept near the calm corner in the classroom. I have also included some items for students to utilize in the calm corner while they are processing their emotions and feelings.
