This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As my classes explore the idea of what it means to be human and have dreams, we are also exploring literature that supports these ideas. The novels The Great Gatsby and Life of Pi help us explore these ideas, as the ideals of The American Dream is explored, as well as the desire to start anew in a new land. These novels will be used in literary circles, where students will work together to read and track the development of the characters within the stories. Furthermore, these novels will provide a good analysis of development and explore the ideas of humanity and dreams.
Each person has desires and dreams.
These books will help me guide my students through these topics. The Great Gatsby addresses the American Dream and morality, while Life of Pi addresses perseverance and determination through ones personal desires.
These books will not only allow us the opportunity to explore, but also discuss these ideas and relate back to their lives.
