This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help us transform our classroom into a welcoming, student-centered space with a large rug and soft floor cushions.

These items will support group learning, class meetings, and quiet reading time, giving students a comfortable and flexible environment where they can focus, connect, and thrive.

Right now, our classroom lacks a comfortable communal space for students to gather. A large area rug will give us a defined meeting space for class discussions, mini-lessons, and community-building activities like morning meetings. It will also serve as a quiet spot for reading or independent work.

The addition of floor cushions will allow students to choose comfortable seating throughout the day, whether it’s for partner reading, working on a project, or just having a little extra wiggle room during quiet time.

These resources will support a variety of learning styles and help students take ownership of their learning environment. Having a cozy and inclusive space will make our classroom feel more like home.
