Help me give my students a welcoming classroom environment. I want to decorate the room so it feels inviting to my students and creates a space for them to display their learning.
My students are starting their final year of elementary school and I want to make it the best year yet! This will be my first year teaching 5th grade and I am very excited for this new challenge.
5th graders are discovering themselves and becoming advocates for themselves and others!
I want to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for every student so they feel they can express themselves and explore their opinions. My students come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I want to make sure they all feel represented, supported, and comfortable in our classroom.
My Project
I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade next year! With this new adventure, I need new supplies to create a cozy classroom appropriate for my 5th-grade students. Coming from kindergarten, many of my supplies and decor are no longer appropriate for this new learning environment.
The supplies from this project will help me create an inviting space for my students that allows them to show off their work.
The bulletin board paper and borders will allow me to create spaces on the walls designated for different work students want to display. The string lights will help us create a comfortable environment for reading and independent work time. We will use the speaker to play calming music while working and enjoy listening and dancing to students' favorite songs together.
Finally, with the switch to an upper-grade classroom, my literacy instruction will take a large shift. I need larger book bins to fit chapter books and would like to use the posters from this project to create a phonics word wall to help students master different grammar skills before heading off to middle school.
