My Project

As we approach the end of this school year, I have begun thinking about how I can make our resource classroom even better for the students in the upcoming year. One thing I've noticed is that there is currently no dedicated space for reading or self-regulation, which is essential for our learners.

For the next school year, I am hoping to create a special reading and calming corner in our resource room.

This space will serve dual purposes: providing a peaceful, cozy spot for students who may feel overwhelmed or exhausted by the demands of middle school life, and offering an inviting, aesthetic environment that encourages reading.

This new corner will not only help students take a break and re-energize but will also inspire them to develop a love for reading. Additionally, it will serve as a space where students can overcome the negative bias that sometimes accompanies being in a resource room. Instead of feeling that they are in a room for students who are "less capable," this space will help them see that it is a safe and supportive area where they can thrive, both academically and emotionally.

With the addition of bean bags and a soft rug, I hope to create a warm, comfortable environment that will make a positive impact on their well-being and learning. Thank you for considering helping us make this vision a reality. Your support would mean so much to our students and our classroom.
