This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading in a comfortable place is like magic. Picture yourself in a cozy place reading your favorite book. Well that's what I want to create for my students. Most of my students live in small crammed apartments with multiple families. They do not have a quiet serene place to read.

My students live in an industrial neighborhood that is gang infested and poverty stricken.

Many of my students can be considered homeless or live in make shift homes such as garages. They come to school eager to learn and to feel safe. Most of my students lack basic resources such as books.

My Project

I requested two areas rugs to create a calm and inviting reading get-away for my students. They need a place where they can feel conformable and excited about reading. A destination that can take them away from their everyday hardships. I want these two area rugs to give my students a welcoming and nurturing environment that they lack at home.

This project is important because as a Kinder teacher I want to instill in my students the love or reading.

I want them learn that reading is essential and also that it can change their lives. Reading is an invaluable skill that once acquired can never be taken away. This project will make a significant impact in the lives of children who otherwise will not have a happy place.
