Creating a Classroom Library

Help me give my students a comfortable place to read and historical fiction books to connect to our Social Studies lessons.

My Students

My students are hardworking, enthusiastic learners who are creative and love to learn. I want to encourage them to read more by providing interesting reading options.

My students deserve high-quality materials that will expand their learning, and provide opportunities in the classroom.

Most of my students come from low income families and live in a poverty stricken environment. However, even though students are faced with these circumstances, they are still eager to learn, and are excited to attend school everyday.

My Project

I am currently moving from teaching 1st grade to teaching 5th-8th Social Studies. I would like my students to begin the year with a classroom library that supports the content we will be focusing on in the classroom.

These books cover a wide variety of topics covered in the curriculum.

I choose historical fiction so students can pick a book that interests them and they can read for their own enjoyment. The best way to improve reading ability is to read more and I want them to have the opportunity to become the best readers they can be.

Donating to my project will help to begin building my students classroom library.
