Creating a Classroom Library Full of Love

My students need books on their reading level that they can take home and read to their family.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Ranieri's classroom raised $550

My Students

Our classroom library is the heart of the classroom. I am so happy with the sense of ownership that my children have for the library. The books are leveled, labeled and the children take responsibility for taking care of them and treasuring them.

My 28 little ones are amazing and my heart.

I am so proud of them! We have some basic rules in the classroom that they all know and happily follow: It is OK to make mistakes, that is how we learn. We always try our best. Treat ourselves, others and our classroom with respect. They are readers, authors, mathematicians, musicians, dancers, scientist, researchers, community activists and kind, caring, generous people. I am fortunate to have friends and family members who have helped to inspire them to dream of college and great careers. It is my job to help make their dreams come true.

My Project

Each week the children take turns "Book Shopping." On their given day the children are able to P.I.C.K. ten books. The children have a Purpose for each book chosen, the books Interest them, the student is able to Comprehend the book and they Know most of the words. By doing this independently, choosing their own books, my hope is they will be more excited to read them. My request for high interest leveled books will give the children an opportunity to choose books on their level that they may borrow and take home to read to their family.

The more a child reads, the better reader and writer they will become.

My hope is that by filling my leveled library with books, my children will have more opportunities to read. I want them to have the opportunity to borrow books to take home and read with their family. I believe that creating a positive home school connection, involving the family in the student's learning is extremely valuable. By doing this so early, it can only help the children years to come.
