Creating a Calming Oasis: Sensory Room for Student Success

My Project
My students are incredible, resilient learners who often face challenges regulating their emotions and focusing in a traditional classroom setting. To support their emotional well-being and academic growth, I am seeking to create a dedicated sensory space where they can feel calm, refocused, and ready to learn.
A sensory room offers a therapeutic environment designed to meet the unique sensory needs of students, providing opportunities for relaxation, self-regulation, and stress relief.
With the right equipment, this space can serve as a refuge for students who become overwhelmed, allowing them to return to their classrooms with renewed focus and confidence.
To make this vision a reality, I am requesting resources such as sensory seating, fidget tools, calming lights, tactile wall panels, and weighted lap pads. These items will provide students with various ways to soothe themselves, release anxiety, and practice self-regulation strategies.
This sensory room will be especially beneficial for my CES students, who often experience additional stress while navigating a new language and environment. Having access to a calming space will promote their emotional resilience and academic progress.
