This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal is to create a supportive and stimulating learning environment that prioritizes my students' mental well-being alongside their academic development in biology. With this project, I hope to bring in resources that will make a positive difference in both their learning experience and emotional health.

The specific items I’m requesting will help build a classroom atmosphere that reduces stress and keeps students motivated.

Biology-themed board games will provide fun, collaborative ways to reinforce key concepts while encouraging critical thinking and teamwork. Calming lighting will create a peaceful ambiance, helping students feel more at ease, focused, and open to learning. Healthy snacks will support their physical well-being, ensuring they have the energy to participate actively in class.

Many of my students are deeply curious about careers in science and medical fields, with aspirations to make an impact through healthcare, research, and innovation. For many, this will be the first time anyone in their family has pursued college. By creating a balanced, calming space that supports their academic and mental well-being, I aim to encourage them to reach for these goals with confidence and resilience.
