Creating a Calming Corner for Our Grade 4 Inclusion Classroom

My Project
In our grade 4 inclusion classroom, we strive to provide every student with the tools they need to succeed. To support our students' emotional and social development, we are creating a calming corner—a safe and soothing space where students can relax, regroup, and manage their emotions. This calming corner will be a vital resource for students who face challenges such as managing emotions, focusing on tasks, and dealing with sensory needs. We need your help to fund the purchase of a privacy canopy, plush pillows, and various types of fidgets. The canopy will provide a sense of privacy and security, allowing students to feel secluded and safe, creating an environment conducive to relaxation and self-reflection. Soft, comfortable pillows will make the space inviting and cozy, giving students the option to sit, lie down, or simply lean against them for comfort. A variety of fidgets, such as stress balls, textured toys, and sensory items, will help students manage anxiety, increase focus, and improve concentration.
By having a designated area for emotional regulation, students will be able to process their feelings, reducing frustration and anxiety, and returning to class activities with a clearer mind.
This will lead to improved focus and learning, enhancing academic performance and creating a more positive classroom experience. Our inclusion classroom is dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of all our students, and this calming corner will be an essential part of providing the support they need to thrive.
