This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My K-5 STEAM students are an incredible group of young learners who bring curiosity and creativity to everything they do. They’re learning to work together in teams, which often leads to amazing discoveries but can also be challenging when projects don’t go as planned.

What makes them special is their resilience and their determination to keep trying, even when they get frustrated.

The resources I’m requesting will make a big difference in helping them navigate these challenges. The fidget toys and sensory supports, like the marble maze mats and calming tools, will give students a way to manage their emotions and stay focused during group work. The weighted stuffed animals and breathing light will create a calming presence in the classroom, providing students with a comforting way to regain their composure. The floor cushions and desk bouncy bands will create a flexible space where students can take a break, center themselves, and return to their projects with a fresh perspective.

My goal for this project is to create a classroom environment that not only encourages teamwork and creativity but also supports students when they need a moment to step back and refocus. These tools will help my students learn to manage frustration, work together more effectively, and develop the resilience they need to succeed in STEAM and beyond.
