My Project
My name is Ms. Smith, and I’m a 6th grade math teacher at CMSS in Anchorage, Alaska. This school year is especially significant—it marks the first time 6th graders have joined our middle school community. These students are navigating not only a critical academic transition, but also the emotional and social challenges of stepping into a brand-new environment.
As a Title I school, many of our students come from underserved backgrounds, and our resources are limited.
One major hurdle we’re facing right now is our inadequate classroom furniture. The desks and chairs available to us are outdated, mismatched, and in many cases, beyond repair. We’re also in desperate need of storage shelves to keep learning materials organized and accessible.
I know this is a big request—but I’m reaching out to ask for your support in helping us purchase new desks, chairs, and shelving units to give our students the environment they deserve. The physical space of a classroom deeply affects a child’s ability to focus, feel valued, and engage with learning. Right now, many of my students are trying to succeed in a space that simply isn’t meeting their basic needs.
Having a clean, comfortable, and well-organized classroom can truly make a difference—especially for 6th graders who are already adjusting to so much change. Your donation would directly impact their daily experience and long-term success.
