Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Typing with two fingers takes forever. My students need to be ready for college -- and typing is a necessary skill.
My ninth and tenth grade students accepted a challenge on the first day of their freshman year: graduate on time and continue onto college.
These students joined a school with an audacious goal of graduating 100 percent of students; a goal which it has met with its first and second graduating class.
Within my classroom, the expectation for students' writing remains high: freshmen need to write 2-4 page papers from the beginning of the school year, sophomores need to write 3-5 page papers.
My Project
Having a small station of computers would allow me to differentiate for my students' needs. Students could write, type, and research without leaving the classroom! Some students can handwrite their essays, while others type. Students can make literature circles more productive by looking for answers as soon as a question arises. A set of computers would also allow students to stay after in my classroom for additional tutoring about their writing.
My students love technology -- it's attached to their hip at all times.
Increasing the technology in my classroom would allow students to be more productive with our class time and meet deadlines. Help me create college-bound writers ready for the 21st century.
