Creating 21st-Century Learners Through Technology

My Students

My students are always learning and working to be the best they can be. Education continues to change and with that change, technology is present with everything children do. While there are many classrooms out there with current technology, there are many without it. Young learners need to learn practical uses of technology.

My students need technology to keep up with current learning in today's competitive society.

We are a K-8 school with wonderful teachers and students. I teach in a gifted cluster classroom where children love to learn, and are always eager to be challenged. I want to be able to offer them lots of choice, skill practice, differentiation and enrichment.

My Project

The Chromebook I am requesting will be put to use right away in the classroom. It will be used for skill practice, differentiation in skills, and enrichment. There are many educational apps for classroom use that can really enhance learning. I would love the opportunity to bring this kind of learning to my students. My eventual goal is to get a total of 5 Chromebooks, that can be used at all times in the classroom. With the technological society that children are being exposed to, it makes sense.

I feel my project will make a difference by allowing learners to experience things in a different way.

The technology allows a different type of learning and sharing for students. It can also increase their knowledge of technology, how it works, and how it can benefit them both academically and personally. Students who struggle with learning may find this technology to be an interesting way of practicing needed skills. It can also offer challenges to those higher learners.
