Create Your Own Freckle Juice

My students need 25 copies of Freckle Juice and literacy center items not only to support reading, but to help students understand that they are unique.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Saxon's classroom raised $341

This project is fully funded

My Students

My students are truly unique in everything they say and do. However, they are unsure of their individuality at times, and I feel that using Freckle Juice in a Literature Circle will show the students that everyone is unique in their own way and that all right.

My students are in 3rd grade and are learning in a Title One school in South Georgia.

They are a mix of Gifted and regular education students who bring unique qualities to the classroom. There is a hip hop dancer, a cheerleader, several children of military families, an aspiring evening news broadcaster, a future president, a writer, an actor, a singing superstar, a shy one, and a variety of other personalities.

My Project

Students will use the book Freckle Juice to compare and contrast their lives to that of the main character. They will learn that having a unique quality, such as having or not having freckles makes us who we are and builds our personalities. We will be able to use this book in math by using the number of counted freckles to multiply and divide. Students will use their informational writing skills to create their own Freckle Juice recipe. Students will also use the stamping pads and stamps to create creative stories about their own personal experience with their individualities.

This project is important to our classroom because it will empower children to learn to accept who they are and know others accept them as well.

Your donations will allow for each student to have their own classroom copy of the Freckle Juice. They will not have to share with anyone else and can feel open to reading and sharing ideas.
