This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My high school English students are busy, motivated students who are deeply involved in school and the world. We devote time in class every day to slow down and build up our practice as readers. For many students, this is the most difficult part of class, despite our rich library of options by a diverse array of authors.
The books in this project have been specifically requested by students to support them to more deeply engage during our independent reading time in class.
I know that these books will help students to develop their practice as readers, find joy in funny, scary, and relatable stories, and jumpstart their growth as lifelong readers. This selection will complement our classroom library and help me to support every student in finding a book they love to read each day.
