Create Life-Long Citizens with PE!

My students need 10 4-inch foam balls, 10 7-inch foam balls, and 5 footballs.

We are a small neighborhood Charter School. We only have two classes per grade level for a total of 196 students. We pride ourselves on focusing on the individual student and offering exciting learning opportunities!

Our school places a lot of emphasis on student citizenship. In order for students to have the optimum learning environment we have to help build the whole student. Getting students together on the PE field is a wonderful way to practice good citizenship and cooperative learning skills. Students then take these skills into the classroom, helping to provide a productive learning environment. Students are excited to get outside and move around. Unfortunately, in the past few years, we have had very little funds for PE equipment. Since we do not have a variety of equipment we tend to play the same types of games, which can cause students to lose motivation.

We need to keep the students' motivation up! The PE field provides students with an outlet that is very different than the classroom. Physical Education can give students opportunities to be successful, even students who are not successful in the classroom. This success can help build student confidence, which is key to learning. In addition, students are exposed to many cooperative learning situations on the field. They are able to practice what it means to be a good sportsman...which in turn can relate to what it means to be a good friend and student. Students who are able to work together as a team are more likely to be positive additions to the classroom community.

We need your help to create a positive learning environment at our school through PE classes. Students respond well to physical education, they often do not realize the skills that they are learning are key to building a good citizen. This equipment will allow us to add some variety to our program to help inspire the students. The skills that the students learn on the field cannot be matched!
