Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the STEAM teacher at my school. Most of my students would prefer hands on activities. They use computers all the time in their homerooms and it was their only resource during school closures.

Hands on activities are impossible to do all the time with limited supplies for such a large number of students I see every week.

The majority of the time our projects are group based which means students don't get the opportunity to take their work home with them.

My Project

This project for glue, batteries, alligator clips, and other materials includes all aspects of STEAM and is a fun learning experience. Science- Students will learn how electricity flows from one entity to another. Technology- Students will learn that many forms of materials can be conductors for electricity. Engineering- Students will engineer their own circuit. Art- Students will design what their circuit will look like. Math- Students will have to figure out how much salt it will take to create their circuit by calculating and measuring.

While participating in this project, students will be connecting to their positive emotions.

How does this project make them feel? The first step in the project is for students to think of something that makes them happy and for them to draw it.
