This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Reading can open up a world for students. The library is a magical place for our students in grades Pre K through grade 8. Our students are excited to visit the library starting in pre kindergarten to listen and respond to books, sing songs, explore stories with puppets, find out information, and explore new things. As they grow the library becomes a place for searching for just the right book, doing research, independent reading, and finding out information. Many of the students are living in crowded spaces with many siblings and large extended families. Some are in temporary housing and shelters until they find permanent homes. They don't have a comfy cozy place of their own to relax and read or listen to a book.

My goal is that this rug will provide students with a comfy, soft space to listen to a story, read a book independently, or read a book with a friend.

It will open a magical door of learning where students will have a space to visit with classes, on their lunch, or before school hours to relax and read a book independently or with a friend.
