This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher, I teach a Core Autism class grades one and two. We are a Title I school, which means that more than 50% of our students receive full or reduced-priced lunch. My students enjoy school and enjoy lots of hands-on activities. They all have individualized educational needs which are met through small group teaching. We study science, social studies, language arts, math and incorporate art on a daily basis. I believe that every student has the potential to learn.
My Project
I am requesting math materials such as ocean fish counters, colored teddy bear sorting, Let's Go Fishing math centers, and a magnetic addition center. With these materials, my students will be able to have hands-on experiences to develop their grade level math skills. With these materials, they will be able to sort colors and sizes, write their own number sentence using magnetic numbers and counters to solve, and also use their gross motor skills with fishing poles to help them separate and sequence objects. My students are very tactile learners and learn through being engaged and having fun. My students are always ready and eager to learn.
