Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach over 700 students ranging from Kindergarten to Fifth grade at two Title I schools. My students live in a rural part of South Carolina and come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. This project would support the kKindergarten, first, and second grade students.
My students are creative, smart, and eager to have hands-on learning activities that will prepare them to become 21st-century learners.
I want all of my students to have the opportunity to create artwork with all the materials they need and provide them with a fun, engaging, and hands-on learning environment.
My Project
All students love working with clay! I want to give my Kindergarten through second grade students a change to work build and sculpt in the art room. The Air-Dry Clay will be used by my second grade students to create a small project of their choice. Students will be able to sculpt and build a project so they can get ready for using clay in Third through Fifth Grade art classes. The Play-Doh would be for all students in Kindergarten through Second Grade to experiment with a clay like substance all year. I want students to have the opportunity to build, play, and create with sculpture in the art room.
