My students need supplies such as magnetic letters and a supply caddy to hold them, a paper organizer and cups to hold writing tools, and book pouches to hold game pieces.
We're crazy for centers! My students adore "playing" at each of our literacy centers and have no idea they are really reinforcing the whole group work we have done! Centers allow children to be independent thinkers, with a deep understanding of content material.
My students are fortunate to have such a wonderful community school.
They are proud of their school and are hard workers. My students come to Kindergarten hungry to learn at all different levels and from all different backgrounds. My goal is to teach them to be independent, successful learners, who always strive to dig a little deeper.
My Project
My students work in learning centers daily to reinforce skills we've been working on. In order for them to be successful and independent they need materials that are easily accessible and developmentally appropriate. These materials will allow me to organize our centers in a way that will help all students feel successful in their center work. My students will be able to use the magnets to work on their alphabet, beginning, middle, and ending sounds, and to start building word as their fluency improves. We'll be able to use the paper sorter to provide the students with many different paper options at our writing center, so each child can choose a paper developmentally appropriate for them. We're also requesting book pouches to hold game pieces and their accompanying recording sheets at our word work center.
With these donations my classroom can continue to foster a love of learning as my students are exposed to fun, age appropriate materials to help them cement their skills in their little minds in a fun way!
