My Students
We are a first-grade French immersion class on the West Side of Los Angeles. Our program is one of only two French Immersion programs in LAUSD. Our kids are diverse, funny and smart. They really work together to make their classroom a special place, and you can help us!
It's the beginning of the year and you know that means we need school supplies!
My kids go through a lot of consumables because I like to let their creativity run free. We also always need basics like pens, crayons, markers, post-its and so on.
Our kids this year come from diverse backgrounds. We have kids with families from all over the world! At our school, we don't just speak French. We also speak English, and lots of us speak Spanish, Farsi, Mandarin, Dutch, Afrikaans, and many other languages! We celebrate diversity in our class.
My Project
My kids go through a lot of markers and crayons. It's an important part of my social-emotional program allowing for self-expression and creativity. I want to supply them with the materials they need to visualize the world around them. It's the beginning of school again, and that means we are low on everything!

We have been lacking crayons and markers in my classroom that represent all the different colors of our skin. Kids love to draw pictures of themselves, their families, and their friends, and they need these colors to make sure their pictures look like what they see around them. These are items they continually ask me for, so here I am asking you!
A couple of other specific items to tell you about: the earmuffs are for those of my kids who feel the room's noise level is too high for them. The earmuffs help them relax and concentrate. And the kids (especially the ones with lots of energy to spend) love the bouncy ball seats we got in our last project so I am going to add two more to the classroom!
