My Students

Imagine moving to a new country. You walk into a classroom and you may not have ever had any formal education before. You have never read or written, and you have this smiling teacher talking to you in a language you don't understand. These are the students I teach every day.

I work in a school of 500 students and 70% of them go home to a language other than English.

95% of our students receive free lunch. Most of my students only speak English at school and are very limited to the tools they need to be successful in school. My students work hard to not only learn the English language but to be proficient in their own as well. They come from all around the world and every single one of them has their own story.

My Project

I am asking for crayons, markers, expo markers, push pins, binder rings, an electric stapler, and classroom caddies to start the new year with supplies we use all year long. I recycle things year after year in the class, but some supplies need to be refreshed annually!

The classroom caddies will help my students keep all their supplies organized and help run our classroom smoothly!

All of these supplies will help me ensure that every student comes back to school fully equipped with all the materials they need. The pencils, markers, and expo markers will all be used by students. The push-pins will be used by me to display their work.
