My Students
My students come from a lower income, mostly Hispanic neighborhood, which is always trying to raise money for the school’s needs. The students I teach love music class, but giving them lessons without letting them try for themselves is draining and boring for them. They work best with hands-on practice, and I currently can't give them that as best as I would like to.
I teach guitar to my 8th grade, but what I really want to be able to do is teach them how individual parts of music come together in a song.
I am looking to get an electric guitar and bass amp for the room for the kids to learn along with drums and bass so that they can experience the amazing feeling of playing in a band.
My Project
I'm looking to give my students the chance to learn how rock and other genres of music involving electric instruments works. I'm looking for an electric guitar and amp plus a bass amp to go with the bass already in the classroom. In my class I teach the different parts of music and give the students the opportunity to learn different instruments to find what instruments call to them the most. In class, I teach drums, guitar, bass, and piano, but the noise limitation makes it hard for scholars to really be able to appreciate the music they are creating! That's where I need your help!
