Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Handwork K-2nd grade students in Oakland, CA. My students come from low socioeconomic homes, and the majority live in poverty-stricken neighborhoods. They love school and are thankful to be able to come to a place where they feel safe and know that they are loved. They come to school with huge smiles and are ready to be a part of their future.

My Project

The donated materials will make a difference in my students’ learning by allowing them to use their imaginations as they create artistic masterpieces. This will also serve as being therapeutic, calming, and relaxing for those individuals with identified additional support needed. Having a real and functioning art center in the classroom will give extra opportunities for the scholars to express themselves through their creative. I would also like to put together a mini- art kit for scholars to use at home. This platform also supports those scholars who are not as verbal. Overall, the scholars will benefit from this enhancement to the class.
